Overlook Data

Clean, normalized US government data, priced per result.

What we do

Government datasets, federal and state, are free to download but expensive to use: search-only portals, inconsistent formats, no input sanitization, and files that only join together after real engineering work. Overlook Data does that engineering so you can skip it.

Our first products cover US healthcare providers, built from the CMS and HHS bulk publications. State labor and licensing registries followed. Everything is sourced from official agency publications and date-stamped so you know exactly how current each record is.

Healthcare

US Healthcare Provider Search: Normalized NPI Data (NPPES)

Search all 9.4M+ US healthcare providers from CMS's full NPPES bulk files, with no 1,200-results-per-query API cap, so true statewide pulls work in a single run. Every record comes normalized: parsed credentials with a ranked primary, deduplicated addresses, OIG exclusion and Medicare enrollment flags, and a quality confidence score.

OIG Exclusion Check: Screen NPIs Against the LEIE

Submit a roster of NPIs and get one dated row back per NPI: excluded, clear, or indeterminate against the HHS OIG exclusion list, with each identity resolved against the full NPPES registry. Built for monthly re-screening. It complements a full multi-source screening program; it does not replace one.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?

Only official government publications: for healthcare, the CMS NPPES bulk files, the HHS OIG exclusion list (LEIE), and CMS PECOS enrollment data; for labor and licensing, the state agency registries themselves, such as the California Department of Industrial Relations. Nothing comes from private or scraped commercial sources.

How current is the data?

Two models. Healthcare products query a database we rebuild from the CMS and HHS files on their own cadence: NPPES weekly incremental updates and a monthly full file, LEIE monthly. State registry products sweep the agency site at run time, so results reflect the registry as of that run. Every record carries the publication or retrieval date it came from.

What is the 1,200-result cap and why does it matter?

The public NPPES API returns at most 1,200 results per query, and products that wrap it inherit that limit. Our provider search queries our own copy of the full registry, so statewide or specialty-wide pulls complete in a single run.

How does pricing work?

Pay per result on Apify. Each product lists its per-1,000 price. No subscription, no minimum, no account with Overlook Data; you pay through your Apify account and only for rows returned.

Can I call these from code or from an AI agent?

Yes. Every product runs on Apify and is available through Apify's REST API, scheduler, and integrations, and each is exposed as an MCP tool so AI agents can call it directly.

Does any of this involve personal or patient data?

No. These are records government agencies publish about providers, businesses, and registrants. The healthcare products contain provider enrollment data only: no patient data and nothing covered by HIPAA. Addresses and contact details are as reported to the agency, not independently verified.
